Giant Joystick

[giantJoystick] provides a much-needed artistic redefinition of technological conventions, which are revealed and re-engineered in a poetic and aesthetic way. The exaggerated scale of the installation emphasizes the physicality (and absurdity) of interfaces in their relationship to the human body and human interaction. Rather than treating the joystick as mere access point to the “other” of the virtual world on a screen, the project highlights the joystick’s role in and connection to the physical world and the social nature of play.

Art Vision

•February 7, 2007 • 1 Comment

New Brisbane based media artists created “art vision” as a installation work at the opening of the new Gallery of Modern art. Raising the age old question on how young artist are to support themselves and whether multi-million dollar infrastructure for art in Queensland will be beneficial to thousands of unestablished artist trying to make there mark. The installation uses a mock sponsor stall(akin to world vision), with artist available for sponsor and fliers detailing how there $1 a day would be spent. The work combines the installation with mock-advertisements hosted online.
